Design Principles Modual Evaluation
1. What skills have you developed through this module and how effectively do you think you have applied them?
Speaking from Experiemce for me was all about being crafty and using handmade elements throughout. The first thing for me really was i was so much more organsed, well i mean i always had the equipment i needed, anytime anyone needed anything i more than lickly had it, so i think this proves just how sucessful it is and could be. i also learned that i am not a perfectionist, i always thought i ahd to perfect things better but for this project i perfered the little mistakes. i used lino print because it was more hand crafted, i carved every object outm and yes there were chunks missing or less than straight lines and marks where i hadn't carved deep enough but i realised these only added to the whole crafty aproach.
2. What approaches to/methods of research have you developed and how have they informed your design development process?
This time around i tended to use the libruary more than i have done in the past, i am very familiar with the libruary but i looked more into the magazines and started looking at more books. This was the most useful thing thoughout the poeject, i found so much secondary research that really backed up the idea of cardbard as a design material.
3. What strengths can you identify in your work and how have/will you capitalise on these?
Firstly i am really pleased with the final resolutions for speaking from experience, even though they didnt really develop much from my initial ideas i have enough research to back up my desisions.
most of the year i have been managing my time effectivly but for this project i had it down to a 'T', i never had a sleepness night or stressing out day before deadline because i really did put the hours in every day i was in college all day and even when i went home i still carried on with the work. This really paid off, i didnt stress, much, and was able to have enough time to resolve my pieces to how i wanted them.
4. What weaknesses can you identify in your work and how will you address these more fully?
I think that i could have developed my ideas more, once i had this idea of the boxes in the draws i ran with that as i was really worried about not making a finaly desision, although i tried experiments in my research this might not be enough to show my thoughts from the start to finish. Also when it came to the designs on the boxes i only tried one design with one technique, even though i think these were really sucessful with lino, i didnt consider screen printing or any other technique which may have come out with a differet result.
The obvious choice for the inside of the boxes was to vacume pack the equipment and then take moulds from them, however i was very stubbourn in this project as i sort of ignored it and didnt even try the technique out, i just stuck with my materials and made it work that way. but i should have taken advantage of our facilities and even if i didnt use the tecnique in the finals it would ahve given me that extra choice.
5. Identify five things that you will do differently next time and what do you expect to gain from doing these?
1. I need to start taking more advantage of the facilities we have at the college and ones that are accesable to us.
2.
6.How would you grade yourself on the following areas:
Attendance 5
Punctuality 5
Motivation 5
Commitment 5

New Boxes, Lids and Prints
Here are two of the boxes iv been experimenting with, you can see iv used the Lino print as detail to the lid of the box that will show the place of the items inside. Inside there will be set indents for each piece of equipment.
Although i think the yellow lino print worked well on this grey stock i have decided to stick with the 'Hairy Manila' card as it dose give a more crafty handmade feel and looks more recycled, even thought all the stocks i have used are recycled.
i looked at using the print on the inside of the box so that you can simple place your equipment in to the box.
I think the design on the top of the box is more sucessful as the audience can see waht is contained in the box before opening it, and so make the boxes more engadging.

more organising
This was a design for a libuary designed by Kalman, this wall piece is objects simply stuck to the wall, i chose it because even though the items seem quite randomly placed there is still order to it but not it a very gridded up symetric way.
Still looking at different storage devices taht are out there, here there are round containers that fit into the draw where you can store all those small bits that get lost.
i think this is brilliant, taking the idea of shelves and inverting it! having iteems inside the walls but what i love most is that you have the shape of the items so you know where you can slot things into. the bins, the table and chairs, the lamps and the rest some of them also have little illustrations that act with the object when placed in the space, the hairdryer has an image of air blowing out of the end. This is such a beauitiful idea and works really well on the wood and a great way to keep a room looking tidy and spacious.
This is a pillowed seat cover that goes over your chair at work or home but it has the image of a chair printed into it. maybe making your normal office chair look and feel more comfy. i just like the idea of having an image of the chair, maybe showing what it could be. i was thinging of having images of the stationary in the moulds or in the boxes to show the place of everything.
