Presnet & Correct

This organised stationary holder is very simple and is obvious it it made to fit perfectly with the pencils and ruler and crayons sold with it, but i like this idea of having tiered approach.

i was looking at this because of the print on the left, the simple shapes and two colours, then noticed the pencil pack was made from cardboard, again very simple and not much design on the packaging.

i tried some lino print the other day and they came out very similar to this, one block shape, i think this is screen printed though as it is a neater finish.

I chose this image because of the stock, it is a pencil holder made out of cork so is perfect for pinning on little notes or things.


i got all these images from Present & Correct everything is for sale so unlike most sites you can have all these gorgeous designes.

cardboard packaging

This product was designed by Frost Design, its a very simple design using just cardboard to creat packaging for a pack of pencil crayons, and its perfect for my concept, this design is very simple neat and still crafty. This is the element i want in my own work, i want the first years to know they can be organised but in a crafty way!

This is Naoloop packaging and again i chose this for the packaging rather than the product as its using cardboard. This again is very simple and neat but still an element of crafty hand engineering.

Both these images were found on The Die Line which is a brilliant site anyway.

planning of the plan chests

well i had to have somthing in there so that the camera would focus and what better thing to have in there.
i am designing boxes that will fit into these plan chest, im not sure of the layout yet but either up the side or along the bottom depending on sizes of paper and other materials that have to fit into the draw.

Whats in my pencil case?

Real Photoshop

This is brilliant, i think most of you have already seen it but its still just fantastic. Its the Photoshop Program setup but instead of it being in digital format, someone (sorry i don't know the designer) has made this as a studio space using real paint pots and boxes and tape measures and is very accurate, so I'm a big fan of all this craftiness.

Organise your design

This piece of design is from Utility Design and i really liked the simplicity but it still has a place for everything, even the bottle of beer has its own little pocket at the top.

This coffee table has lots of storage space, each side folds open into separate container spaces. This idea of discreet storage space is something I'm looking into, so thanx Luke

This tool kit is from Muji they are all about the minimalist and practicality design, it was the packaging of this item that engaged me at first but i cant find an image of it on the net, but the idea of items having their place in foam, the silhouettes of items being marked out.

I really love the stock that has been used here, i am looking into this thick and dark sort of card and have ordered some, i also like the print on top of it, i want to include some design on my box maybe using Lino or screen print but i think it has a more buisness look to it on a darker matt finish.

i simply love this, i think this idea of a battered old box or case or container is the problem im solving, i dont want to lookse this tactile feel or the 'arty' feel to it but having something pratical and more profesional is something i think designers will think about.

Mr Luke Hallam again on Blue Lounge, and its simply beautiful, the wooden box to start with is so simple and works in the dark wood and curved edges, i really want to gain this look of professionalism, even though i ahve looked at woodedn boxes, i think using wood for my project will restrict me in praticality of time and producing something that is portable.

These are some more examples of organasation and categorisation, also the top image is showing the organisation of thin long draws which has been suggested to me to design for out plan chest draws.

Typography Shelves

This amazing piece of design is from the quite revolution it was Heather who showed me this and I'm glad she did, its given me another idea for my idea of organisation, as i really wanted to incorporate type but was having trouble doing it!

Organised?

This piece is from Catherine Stone, a lecture on the New Media course at Leeds University, this piece is about organising your thoughts, every time you think of one of the categories, 'Actual Future', 'Imagined Past' you colour in one of the shapes, and then you can see what your thought pattern has bee throughout the day, week, month.

This image is Julien Vallee this piece is very organised in terms of categorising in shape and placing them together in one shape

Speaking from Experience Proopoal

Our new brief is to design a graphic solution to a problem that we ourselves had in our first week as first years, that we can give, send, show to this years first years to be.
i came up with 5 main problems that i had:

1. Being in a strange new place
2. Forgetting peoples names
3. Being confident to talk to new people
4. Prioritising things like uni, jobs and friends
5. Organisation

Iv decided to solve, Organisation, as i was and still very unorganised with my materials and my room and my work and everything. I'm going to leave this quite open as I'm still not sure how to take this.

Problem: Being unorganised

How I'm going to do this: I'm going to do this through paper based interactive design

typographical exersise

This is Typographical exersise a book by Adeline Mollard, as we are looking at layout at the moment i thought this was a good example of mimemlist layout, very simple, neat and contained, and it works.

This is my first attempt at Lindseys article. i think its quite sucessfull in terms of using the grid but still not sure if its perfect for Lindsey!
