Second page/hen layout

These are a few of my second attempt at the layout of the page, instead of trying to position sections of text in the 'visible boxes' iv used the template to use the shapes of the folded origami hen to use as text boxes. i looked at different brushes in the centre, also looked at the text and how best to present it. although i like the black boxed text as a page layout, when folded up it looks messy and unplanned. my favourite bit of all these is in the top left iv written CV using the negative space, these, when folded will be the eyes of the bird.

This is the first layout design i have placed the template over the page and tried to position the text in the boxes so that what you can see when folded up is legible and understandable. i added the animal silohets to add something visual. im not 100%sure on them but i will see what else i come up with.

I'm looking at Origami shapes representing different categories of careers, Retail, Animals, Travel and Transport, Nature and Environment, Arts, and Education. These origami shapes will be linked visually with its categories eg, a swan or elephant for Animals, and will be placed in job centres. the idea is that people who are thinking about working with animals will see these shapes and pick them up, they will fold open into a small information pack about that categories, it will include a list of different jobs that are available within that categories and a template CV that is aimed towards a change in career, i am also going to try and include a list of websites and magazines that could help with finding a job and keeping up with the industry.

This is a T-shirt that i first thought of when i was looking at the thumbs up gestures

I tried making a few of my own using my own images and type but i wanted to change the message to make more relevant to the recognition brief.

I then looked at different colours to see if the green was the best colour and i when asking people which they thought was more asthetically pleasing people liked both the red and the green one.

After looking at the photographs, i decided to create vecter drawing from them, this emabled me to thin them down to the simplest form.



After i had the images i started to look at colour and layout and adding type over the image, here are most of the out comes that could possible be developed for my final resolution.

I started to manupulate these photographs and add some type to show the message, however i dont feel these worked as well as i had imagined. i couldnt seem to find a typeface or colour that sat ontop of the image without looking to out of place.

The colour of these two images was complete accident a few hours ago. but i rather like these they look more sort of pop art than the images and so the type dosnt look so out of place. they were actually like these . . .

Thumbs up

The Thuesday Crits also higlighted a theme of hand gestures. i had looked at thumbs up and handshakes and hi-fives, but they also found the linc with picking your nose. i hadnt seen this link and so took what they had said on board and looked at all different gestures we do with our hands on both themes of saying thankyou, and nothing goes un-noticed.

I started taking pictures of my sister and freinds and found one or two older images that were great to use.

Recognition Day

I entered the live brief for Recognition Day, it was to promote saying thankyou when you would normaly pass it by. i chose to expand on the idea of 'its the little things that go un-noticed' and looked at many different concepts. I looked mostly at using type and it being a simple message, but after the class Crits on Thursday people seem to respond to the funny concepts i had looked at. 'Nothing goes un-noticed' was where i developed this idea to and chose to look at photogrpahs of thing we do when we think people arnt looking, e.g. scratching you bum, picking you nose, or having a builders bum.
